Ella Envy is done with the NWA.
Ella Envy made a splash instantly when she came into the National Wrestling Alliance in 2022. Known as Pretty Empowered, her and Kenzie Paige was a rising tag team that quickly won the NWA World Women’s Tag Team Championships within the first five months of their debut.
Kenzie Paige would be phased out of the tag team title picture and go on to beat Kamille for the NWA World Women’s title on August 27, 2023. Paige recently celebrated 500 days of her long title run, but Ella Envy is currently celebrating free agency from the promotion.
The four time NWA World Women’s Tag Team Champion confirmed during an interview with Ella Jay of WrestleZone that her tenure with the company is over.
“Starting on January 1st, I, Ella Envy, am now a free agent,” Envy told WrestleZone’s Ella Jay. “It was not an easy decision to leave the NWA. I had been with them since I was 21 years old. I am now 24 years old. They were the first people I feel like to really take a chance on me and to believe in me. Without the NWA, there would be no Ella Envy and no 'It Girl.' But with that being said, I am getting older and I just feel like I need to spread my wings. I feel like I need to exercise every opportunity that life throws at me, wrestling-related and non-wrestling-related.”
As of now, Ella Envy is still listed as one-half of the NWA World Women’s Tag Team Champions with Miss Star. The last time that Envy competed in NWA was in October when her and Miss Star beat Caribbean Flow (La Rosa Negra & Ruthie Jay) to retain the tag team titles. NWA is currently going through tapings dating back to last year so it’s possible that Envy and Miss Star dropped the belt before her exit.
The news is shocking since Envy just signed an exclusive deal with the NWA back in August. Envy doesn’t particularly say anything bad about the NWA, but it’s interesting that she revealed the news now before dropping the tag belts on television. Whatever the case may be, It seems that the IT Girls are done in NWA and it should be fun to see where Envy ends up next. Thus far, Billy Corgan hasn’t responded to Envy’s free agency claim, though we’ll find out soon what happens to the IT Girls in NWA.
