The match-up began as a feeling out process between Ospreay and EVIL, as neither man had total control until EVIL raked the eyes of the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion.
Ospreay would be able to recover quickly, and the next several minutes would see a back-and-forth bout with Ospreay using his speed and aerial arsenal and EVIL using his ground-based tactics.
The first nearfall occurred after the England native connected with a springboard forearm strike. EVIL would use a brief distraction from the referee to connect with a thrust kick, and then a suplex into the corner that got him a nearfall as well. Ospreay fought back and once again hit aerial maneuvers to get the best of the former IWGP Tag Team Champion, including nailing a Coast To Coast that got him a strong nearfall.
After more close calls from both men down the stretch, the match-up boiled down to Ospreay going to for a Super OsCutter, but EVIL would counter and connect with multiple German suplexes. In the end, EVIL hit Everything is Evil and got the three count over the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion.
EVIL’s G1 Climax score is now 4-3 (8 points), whereas Will Ospreay’s record has fallen to 2-5 (4 points).
