Eli Drake is officially a new member of the AEW roster!

Last night, the former Impact World Champion made his shocking debut for the company by being revealed as the partner of the NWA Worlds Heavyweight champion, Nick Aldis. The two battled former ten-time ROH World Tag Team champions The Briscoes, with the bout ultimately ending in a no-contest.

The ending came when the tag teams were brawling around the arena and got to near the announcer’s booth, which was where former TNA World Heavyweight champion James Storm was doing commentary. Drake spat water at Jay, which also hit Storm, who retaliated by attacking Drake causing the match-up to end.

Colt Cabana was originally set to partner up with Aldis; however, the NWA National Heavyweight champion was forced off the card due to injury. The NWA Worlds Heavyweight champion would reveal in the days before his scheduled bout at Best in the World that his tag team partner had just signed an exclusive deal with the promotion. Drake’s contract deal with NWA is unknown at the moment.
