It’s been a while since we heard news regarding Shane Strickland going to the WWE. The former MLW and Lucha Underground star was heavily rumored to join the company earlier this year; however, a contract situation with LU prevented Strickland from signing with WWE until it was resolved.

Strickland finally announced that he was a free agent back in January; however, there hasn’t been much word on his status with WWE since late 2018.

This past weekend, the former MLW World Heavyweight champion bid farewell to DEFY Wrestling. He told the fans in attendance that it would be his final appearance for the promotion. According to PWInsider, Strickland said that he’s moving on to bigger and better things.

Whether this means that the indie star is WWE bound is anyone’s guess; however, with WWE reportedly having strong interest in the former LU wrestler, it wouldn’t be surprising if he signed a WWE contract sometime soon.
