Well, it appears Davey Boy Smith Jr. didn’t necessarily enjoy much of his time down in New Japan.
The current MLW World Tag Team champion competed at Real Japan Pro Wrestling, which was an event held in the memory of Dynamite Kid, who passed away in December. Smith shared several photos of the event on Twitter and captioned the tweet with,
"It was a great game and memorial tonight for Dynamite Kid for Real Japan Pro Wrestling. Nice to be involved in an athletic, competitive, physical contest for once in Japan! I won with a Tombstone Piledriver followed by Diving Headbutt! Dynamite Kid Style!"
A fan questioned Smith with,
“So the matches in NJPW aren’t athletic?” and the former IWGP Tag Team champion’s reply was,
"The ones I'm booked in, nope."
Smith Jr. doesn’t further explain his statement on his problems with New Japan Pro Wrestling. The current MLW star had a decent run in his time with the company as he was a member of the Suzuki-gun stable with Minoru Suzuki, El Desperado, Lance Archer, Taichi, Taka Michinoku, Yoshinobu Kanemaru, and Zack Sabre Jr.
Smith Jr. also won the IWGP Tag Team titles on three separate occasions.
