The match-up between the two New Japan stars started off hot, as Moxley and Goto had a fierce striking exchange until the IWGP United States Champion knocked Goto out of the ring. Moxley continued the fight throughout the arena; however, Goto didn’t let the IWGP United States Champion beat him down like a rag doll, as the CHAOS member gave Moxley a fight that’s sure to leave some bruises.

Both men eventually ended up back inside the ring and Goto got the best of Moxley after a devastating clothesline. His advantage wouldn’t last long, as the IWGP US Champion would drop Goto moments later and then lock-in a double wrist lock.

Goto would make his way out of the submission and the back-and-forth between the talents would continue, with a notable exchange of clotheslines that put down both men. Goto would kick out of the Death Rider for a strong nearfall, and as Moxley attempted a second one, he nailed a GTR and got the three count.

Hirooki Goto’s G1 Climax score is now 5-3 (8 points), whereas Jon Moxley’s record has fallen to 5-3 (10 points).
