Last week, former IWGP Heavyweight Champion Jay White finally got his first victory in the G1 Climax and the Bullet Club leader is starting to gain some momentum as he was also able to get the best of Shingo Takagi.
The match-up was a bit of a brawl in the beginning until Gedo distracted Takagi long enough for White to take advantage of the moment. Takagi used his speed and strikes to take down the former IWGP Heavyweight Champion, but Jay White fought back hard against the former IWGP Junior Tag Team Champion with the usual assist from Gedo.
As Takagi went for last of the dragon, White grabbed the referee, which sparked another interference from Gedo. Shingo finally took out the manager and connected with Made in Japan for a good nearfall. The former IWGP Junior Tag Team Champion went for last of the dragon once again, but White used his smarts to counter the maneuver into a dragon suplex.
In the end, White put Takagi away with bladerunner within the 20 minute mark. Jay White’s G1 Climax tournament score is 2-3 (4 points), whereas Shingo Takagi’s record is 2-3 (4 points).
