The match started fast with Takagi nailing a knee strike onto the former NEVER Openweight Champion, but Takagi wouldn’t get the best of Cobb for long as the ROH star had a brief shining moment. However, Takagi ended up getting back in control thanks to his stiff shots, especially to the leg.

The Los Ingobernables de Japon member would end up eating a exploder suplex from Cobb. Both men exchanged clotheslines in the middle of the ring; however, Takagi was the last man standing due to a pumping bomber that got him a strong nearfall.

A short time later, Takagi connected with Made in Japan, but only got another nearfall out of it. Takagi looked to connect with another pumping bomber, but Cobb countered with a German suplex. The former NEVER Openweight Champion would then hit a Tour Of The Islands for a three count.

Jeff Cobb’s G1 Climax tournament score is now 3-3 (6 points), whereas Singo Takagi’s record is now 2-4 (4 points).
