Last week, the IWGP Heavyweight Champion would suffer a loss in the G1 Climax tournament; however, Kazuchika Okada wouldn’t suffer the same fate against EVIL, though the Los Ingobernables de Japon member put up one hell of a fight. The match-up started out slow and methodical between the New Japan stars, with EVIL keeping Okada down with his mat game.

Okada eventually made his comeback; however, EVIL’s response would result in the IWGP Heavyweight Champion being taken down with a chair shot. The former IWGP Tag Team Champion would continue to work over Okada, and got a near fall after a devastating superplex.

Okada would once again get the best of EVIL with his signature tombstone piledriver. However, as Okada went for the Rainmaker, EVIL countered with a spinning clothesline for another close fall.

EVIL would ultimately connect with Darkness Falls, but the IWGP Heavyweight Champion refused to stay down for a three count. After several back-and-forth reversals between EVIL and Okada, the latter would finally hit the Rainmaker twice and got the three count.

Kazuchika Okada’s G1 Climax score is now 7-1 (12 points), whereas EVIL's record falls down to 4-4 (8 points).
