In the main event, the IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Champion faced off against the IWGP Heavyweight Champion in a match-up that didn’t disappoint in terms of quality.
The England native hasn’t been able to mirror his success from the Best of the Super Juniors tournament earlier this year, as the only victory that the “Aerial Assassin” has in the tournament thus far is over SANADA.
Unfortunately, Ospreay’s losing streak continued as Okada’s in-ring experience out matched the 26-year-old. As expected, the IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Champion had the speed advantage and got some success because of it; however, Okada was able to bounce back by countering key maneuvers.
In the end, Okada was able to counter the Stormbreaker and hit a Rainmaker. Sensing that might not be enough, Okada killed Ospreay with three more Rainmakers and ensured the victory with a three count within 22-minutes. Kazuchika Okada remains undefeated in the G1 Climax tournament with a record of 4-0 (8 points), whereas Will Ospreay holds a score of 1-3 (2 points).
