Kazuchika Okada Retains The IWGP Heavyweight Championship Over Kota Ibushi At WRESTLE KINGDOM

We all thought it was Kota Ibushi's night, but alas, the ever-resilient Kazuchika Okada was able to retain the IWGP Heavyweight Championship after an intense back-and-forth encounter at Wrestle Kingdom 14.

He came close, but it just wasn't Kota Ibushi's time, and Kazuchika Okada remains the IWGP Heavyweight Champion... for now, at least.

The match went 40 minutes, and was something very special. Both men hit some stiff shots and scored a series of near falls, but when Okada kicked out of the Kamigoye (the first to do so?), it signaled the end for The Golden Star.

After that, Ibushi missed a Phoenix Splash and allowed Okada to hit a series of Rainmakers for the pinfall victory.

Post match, Tetsuya Naito made his way out to the ring and cut a promo in which he vowed to defeat Okada for the title. Will he be able to fulfill his Destino and become the first wrestler in history to hold the IWGP IC and Heavyweight Championships at the same time? We'll find out later tonight, so be sure to keep an eye on The Ring Report for updates.
