Tetsuya Naito and Bushi may have found a new home.
It’s officially been confirmed by RevPro that the former New Japan Pro-Wrestling stars will make their debuts at the 2025 Summer Sizzler on July 25.
This is the first time that Naito has worked a RevPro show in six years. The former IWGP Heavyweight Champion defeated MK McKinnan at RevPro Ungovernable. Bushi also last worked with RevPro in 2019 at the same event where he teamed with EVIL (representing Los Ingobernables de Japón) in a four way against Josh Bodom & Sha Samuels, Aussie Open (Kyle Fletcher & Mark Davis, and Team WhiteWolf (A-Kid & Carlos Romo) for the RevPro Undisputed British Tag Team titles.
To the shock of wrestling fans, the former Los Ingobernables de Japón members confirmed back in April that they were leaving New Japan Pro-Wrestling. Rumors have it that it ultimately came down to money for Naito and he opted to not re-sign when he didn’t see eye to eye with officials.
Bushi did actually re-sign with New Japan, but once he heard about Tetsuya Naito leaving the promotion then he requested his release. Bushi and Naito’s final match was on May 5, where Los Ingobernables de Japon teamed together one last time (BUSHI, Hiromu Takahashi, Shingo Takagi & Tetsuya Naito) to take on Just 4 Guys (Taichi & TAKA Michinoku), Shota Umino & Tomohiro Ishii. The former emerged victorious.
Since then, it’s been silent over in the Naito and Bushi's camp. Though both men came out and addressed the rumors about retirement and quickly squashed them. It’s not clear if this is the new permanent home for Bushi and Tetsuya Naito, but it’ll sure be strange to see them working outside of the NJPW brand for a while. Granted, Naito and Bushi have worked plenty of non-New Japan shows in the past, but this is the first time that they aren’t affiliated with the Japanese promotion. But Bushi and Tetsuya Naito aren’t the only big stars working the show.
Mercedes Mone is also working that event as she’ll be defending the Undisputed British Women’s Championship. Thus far, her opponent has yet to be confirmed.
