For the first time in his career, KENTA is a NEVER Openweight Champion.
Bullet Club’s newest member captured the title yesterday at NJPW’s Royal Quest event by defeating the man he betrayed at the G1 Finals, Tomohiro Ishii. As you can imagine, Ishii and KENTA had a back-and-forth fight that even saw the now former champion pull off his signature brainbuster maneuver. However, thanks to the Guerrillas of Destiny, Ishii was unable to capitalize on that moment.
In the end, KENTA would hit the GTS and get the three count. This is the former 205 Live star’s first title in the company. In fact, this is the first title KENTA has held in over five years, as the last belt the 38-year-old held was the GHC Heavyweight Championship back in 2013/2014.
