New Japan's G1 Climax 29 has been just as exciting and unpredictable as ever so far, but we're now approaching the end with the winner of A Block crowned just moments ago.
Kota Ibushi went into the main even as an "underdog", but having made it to the finals last year only to lose to Tanahashi, many fans fully expected him to pull out the victory over IWGP Heavyweight Champion Kazuchika Okada. The Rainmaker did look like he had it in the bag on several occasions, but in the end the Golden Star managed to hit two of his devastating Kamigoye knee strikes to keep his opponent down for the 3-count.
Ibushi will now go on to face the winner of the B Block in the G1 Climax finals. Who will that be? You'll have to tune in tomorrow to find out, but this is how things are shaping up at the moment:
If Jon Moxley beats Juice Robinson, he needs "Switchblade" Jay White and Goto to lose.
If Goto beats Shingo, he has tiebreakers over Mox & Jay, but not Tetsuya Naito.
If Goto & Mox lose, winner of Naito/Switchblade wins. If they draw, playoff.
