Raj Dhesi and Satnam Singh are no longer AAA Tag Team Champions.
Lucha Libre AAA announced that the duo has been stripped of the belts due inactivity.
Dhesi and Singh won the AAA Tag Team titles back at TripleMania XXXII: Mexico City, beating Negro Casas & Psycho Clown and Dr. Wagner Jr. & Galeno Del Mal in a three-way match.
Can you guess how many times these two have defended their belts? Zero.
Dhesi and Singh won these titles on August 17, 2024, so that means the duo have been carrying these titles for 214 days. There’s no reason given on why Dhesi and Singh never defended these titles.
Though Singh hasn’t been on AEW television since August 2024, he’s actually been quite busy in AEW due to the numerous dark and ROH matches he’s competed in ever since. Dhesi’s been a busy man himself as he’s wrestled for various promotions such as Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling, All Star Wrestling, and Black Label Pro.
It wasn’t an injury issue for both men, so it’s interesting that AAA kept the titles on Dhesi and Singh for so long. The former AAA Tag Team Champions have yet to respond to being stripped of the belts.
In terms of how the new champions will be crowned, AAA has yet to announce a plan just yet. The promotion has bigger fish to fry right now as they have to worry about their Rey de Reyes show this Saturday where Alberto El Patron will defend the AAA Mega Championship against El Hijo del Vikingo in Mexico City. There’s also a one night tournament where the winner receives a huge sword.
The participants are:
- Pimpinela Escarlata vs. Mr. Iguana vs. Panic Clown vs. El Mesias
- Niño Hamburguesa vs. Takuma vs. Belcegor vs. El Fiscal
- Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. vs. Mecha Wolf vs. Chessman vs. Negro Casas
- DMT Azul vs. Taurus vs. Aerostar vs. Cibernetico
It’s possible that AAA may add a Tag Team title match at the very last minute, but that’s highly doubtful at this point.
