Hulk Hogan passed away on July 24, with the WWE Hall of Famer's funeral taking place earlier this week. Now, it's been announced that TMZ will air a documentary, TMZ Presents: The Real Hulk Hogan, on Tuesday, August 12, on FOX.
"Hulk Hogan forever changed professional wrestling and became one of the biggest icons in America, but tragedies and self-inflicted wounds complicate his legacy," reads the official description. "Hulk's closest friends, competitors, and fellow champions discuss how one man, Terry Bollea, changed pop culture forever."
The special will include interviews from Sylvester Stallone, Vince McMahon, Mick Foley, Bill Goldberg, Jimmy Hart and Mark Henry, with additional interviews from WWE Superstars including Alexa Bliss, Jacob Fatu, and Charlotte Flair.
A screenshot of McMahon's appearance has started doing the rounds on social media, and the former WWE Chairman looks nearly unrecognisable. He's aged significantly and has a pretty odd hairstyle that's led to some unflattering comparisons online.
Still, it's an improvement over his moustache days!
During a recent interview with Ariel Helwani, WWE Hall of Famer Paul Heyman recalled his first meeting with Hogan in 1988, when he was just 23 years old and a few months into his first national run with WCW.
"We’re running in and around the Chicago area for a couple days. WWE is running in Chicago. We’re running Peoria. We all used to stay at the same hotel," he shared. “I pull up a limousine. Pulls up behind me. I get out of the car. Hulk Hogan gets out of the limousine."
"So we get into his limo, and the first thing he says is he goes, 'How long is your contract for? I’m a big fan of your work.' And I’m sitting there, and this is 1988 Hulk Hogan. This is Hulkamania. the absolute biggest star in the entire busines, and he’s a fan of mine."
Heyman continued, "All he’s doing is, 'Brother, I’m only as good as the opponents they bring me. I always need opponents, and you can talk for my opponents. We got to get you in here.' He didn’t even wait for me to say anything to him, never fished for a compliment, never waited for me to go, 'Thank you, sir.' And by the way, he finished his spiel and got out."
"People have both their glowing love of Hulk Hogan, and I know people have their behind the scenes how much they hated him," he added. "I was never in backstage politics opposed to him, right? And I don’t know what that was like, so I can’t speak to it, but I can tell you as far as my personal interactions with him, he was always a gentleman with me."
Will you be tuning into this documentary when it airs later this month?
