The second round of the 2019 New Japan Cup tournament officially kicked off today with two more competitors advancing to the next round of the 32-man competition.

Despite coming off a huge and shocking victory over IWGP US Champion Juice Robinson in the first round, YOSHI-HASHI proved to be the better wrestler over Chase Owens on this day. The Japanese born wrestler has yet to win a title in the promotion, could 2019 be a breakout year for YOSHI-HASHI?

In the second tournament match, Tomohiro Ishii proved that his experience was too much for the former NEVER Openweight champion Taichi, who did give the new Japan veteran one hell of a fight. Ishii and YOSHI-HASHI are expected to meet in the quarterfinal match on March 20th.

Check back here tomorrow to see who advances in the next second round tournament matches below:

Kazuchika Okada vs. Mikey Nicholls

Will Ospreay vs. Lance Archer
