New Japan Pro Wrestling has announced that Michael Elgin will no longer take part of the pre-show five team Gauntlet match at Wrestle Kingdom 13.

Elgin was set to team with David Finlay and Jeff Cobb for a chance to become the #1 contender for the NEVER Openweight Six Man Tag Team championship. The current champs are Tama Tonga, Tanga Loa, and Taiji Ishimori. However, he'll be replaced in the pre-show gauntlet match with Yuji Nagata. The New Japan star is a two time IWGP Heavyweight Champion.

The reason for the removal is because Elgin suffered a left knee injury that will require surgery. He’s expected to have the procedure soon, but will miss the card as a result.
