MJF Reportedly Suffered A "Severe Elbow Injury" At AEW's FIGHT FOR THE FALLEN This Weekend

On Saturday night, MJF teamed with Sammy Guevara and Shawn Spears to face Darby Allin, Joey Janella, and Jimmy Havoc in the opening bout of All Elite Wrestling's Fight for the Fallen PPV. Unfortunately, it seems as if MJF was injured during that because he was pulled from an Inspire Pro Wrestling event on Sunday due to a reported "severe elbow injury."

"At approximately 4:07 this morning, INSPIRE PRO was delivered the unfortunate news that PURE PRESTIGE CHAMPION MAXWELL JACOB FRIEDMAN sustained a severe elbow injury at last night’s FIGHT FOR THE FALLEN event," reads the press release. "With MJF scheduled to appear at next week’s TRIPLEMANIA, the decision was made to pull him from tonight’s event to prevent any further injury. THEREFORE, MJF will NOT be defending his PURE PRESTIGE CHAMPIONSHIP tonight against RICKY STARKS."

Luckily, it sounds like MJF will be good to go for TripleMania and while the injury is described as "severe," it's unlikely to stop him being part of AEW's weekly show on TNT this fall. However, it was noted that, "MJF and INSPIRE have come to a mutual agreement to VACATE the PURE PRESTIGE TITLE."

The injury seemingly happened during the closing few minutes of the match as MJF could be seen talking to the referee. He's one of AEW's most popular heels so it would be a great shame for him to wind up on the shelf. With any luck, we'll have an update for you soon so be sure to stay tuned for details.
