New Japan Pro Wrestling has finally confirmed the date for New Year Dash, as the event will take place on January 6th at the Ota City Gymnasium. The annual event usually takes place on January 5th; however, New Japan will be hosting two nights of Wrestle Kingdom, thus the reasoning for the change.

The New Year Dash event usually foreshadows what’s to come in the upcoming months of the Japanese promotion such as, Jay White defeating Hiroshi Tanahashi in a six-man tag team match at the 2019 show and going on to win the IWGP Heavyweight Championship at New Beginning.

Thus far, there’s no match-ups confirmed for Wrestle Kingdom; however, Kota Ibushi is guaranteed the main event slot of the show against the IWGP Heavyweight Champion, should he be able to retain his contract up until the big pay-per-view. Check out pricing for tickets here.
