One of the recent criticisms about WWE lately is the lack of wrestling on their Monday night show.

It appears that New Japan Pro Wrestling is looking to capitalize on that, as the Japanese promotion sent out a message on their English Twitter page stating that there is a lack of professional wrestling on Monday nights. The promotion looked to appease the fans who wanted to see some wrestling and released a free NEVER Openweight title match between Tomoaki Honma and Katsuyori Shibata.

Shibata is the head coach of NJPW's dojo in California and recently appeared for the company at Dominion to introduce KENTA to the New Japan audience. The former NEVER Openweight champion was forced to retire in 2017 after suffering a serious head injury in his match against Kazuchika Okada.
