The former “Young Lion” of New Japan Pro Wrestling has finally won his first championship belt.
Ever since Kawato-San made his debut for CMLL back in early 2018, the 22-year-old has been lighting the wrestling world on fire and the New Japan upstart finally has gold around his waist. Kawato-San defeated El Audaz to win the CMLL Super Lightweight title.
Several weeks prior, Dragon Lee was forced to vacate the CMLL Super Lightweight championship. The 22-year-old becomes the third Japanese wrestler to win the belt behind Masato Yakushiji and Kamaitachi (Hiromu Takahashi).
