New Japan Pro Wrestling is finally placing their brand in America!
On Monday, a special press conference was announced confirming a United States subsidiary, which is named New Japan Pro Wrestling of America.
The Japanese company has been making strides to hit the U.S. market for years now, as New Japan expanded on doing shows (mostly on the west coast) in America. With the success that the promotion continues to rake in from each event in the States, New Japan has now entered their third phase.
Company CEO Takami Obari stated that it was necessary to launch a subsidiary to be "fully established" in the market. Obari noted that live events will be an integral part of the new wing of NJPW, and that their brand, concept and style are already valued stateside.
The promotion will mainly run events on the west coast, southeast, Texas, and midwest. Obari noted that their subsidiary brand in America would not affect plans or business in Japan.
The United States schedule and tours will kick off while the Japanese schedule is in between tours, though it was mentioned that tours could happen simultaneously. There won't be a reduction in the Japanese schedule, but they hope to possibly double to 13 events in the U.S. from this year to next.
