Pete Dunne vs. Timothy Thatcher could steal WrestleMania weekend.
This year’s show is scheduled for Las Vegas the week of WrestleMania. Talents from numerous promotions such as WWE, AEW, MLW, TNA/Impact Wrestling, and New Japan Pro-Wrestling are scheduled for this annual event. Thus far, Tom Lawlor, Timothy Thatcher, Simon Gotch, Royce Isaacs, David Modzmanashvili, Natalya Heidhart, Gabe Kidd, Pete Dunne and just recently, Charlie Dempsey are confirmed for the upcoming show.
Bloodsport has confirmed its next match that puts former WWE NXT UK Champion Pete Dunne against Timothy Thatcher.
Thatcher had a brief, but notable stint in NXT. He made his way over to the developmental brand in 2020 and had plenty of great matches. Thatcher notably had a fun NXT North American Title match against Damian Priest. He even replaced Pete Dunne as Matt Riddle’s partner for the NXT Tag Team Championship. Thatcher has faced Dunne in a tag team match, but not in singles competition.
But even before his NXT run, the 42-year-old has been a big name on the independent scene since 2005. Thatcher has worked in NWA, PROGRESS, MLW, DEFY, AEW, and ROH.
Dunne himself has been getting back underground during WrestleMania season. He’s another notable name on the independent scene, with the 31-year-old recently working the OTT Wrestling: Homecoming show on March 22. This should be an excellent match between two pros with a similar style.
For those who don’t follow the unique format, Bloodsport started in 2018 under Matt Riddle’s name. Once Riddle signed to WWE, the event was turned over to former UFC fighter Josh Barnett. The rules are quite simple: every match will end either by knockout or submission. Instead of the traditional pro wrestling ring, the canvas has no ropes or turnbuckles.
We’re just a little over a month away from the annual Bloodsport and matches are finally starting to form. Which match will be announced next for Bloodsport?
