Night Two saw a former IWGP Heavyweight Champion trying to recapture his glory.
Tetsuya Naito is currently ½ of the IWGP Tag Team Champions. But Naito wants to regain the IWGP Heavyweight Championship. The former world champion finally has an opportunity to get another shot through this tournament and Naito didn’t disappoint. His opponent, Callum Newman, gave Naito a huge challenge and even kicked out of Destino. However, Naito was able to advance thanks to an inside cradle.
In other first round news, Drilla Moloney got one over Tomohiro Ishii. It’s usually a hard hitting match with Ishii and this was no different. Ishii hit Moloney with his best; stiff clotheslines and chops, and Drilla took the moves like a champ. Ishii even showed why he’s considered one of the toughest men on the roster as kicked out of a superkick and brainbuster combo at one! In the end, Moloney hit the Drilla Killa (swinging piledriver) for the three count.
Olega Boltin and Great-O-Khan also advanced into the second round. Oleg topped Bad Luck Fale with his finisher, Kamikaze (forward Finlay Roll). O-Khan got the clean pin after he dropped El Phantasmo with an Eliminator Slam.
