Shingo Takagi came into his bout against Toru Yano with something to prove after losing to Juice Robinson in the opening round for the G1 Climax for the B-Block competitors.

Yano was coming off a hot victory over IWGP Intercontinental Champion Tetsuya Naito, as the former IWGP Tag Team Champion displayed the same game plan he did against the Los Ingobernables de Japon leader; however, Takagi was all business and made sure to put an end to Yano’s antics quickly.

After Yano shoved the referee into Takagi, the New Japan star grabbed a chair, threw it to Takagi, and pretended that the former IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champion had hit him with it. The tactic ultimately back fired, as Bushi was pleading to the referee on behalf of Takagi, the Los Ingobernables de Japon member hit Yano with the chair and connected with a lariat to score the pinfall.

Shingo Takagi’s record in the G1 Climax is 1-1, whereas Toru Yano’s record is now 1-1 as well.
