The Steve Austin Show finally returned and the WWE Hall of Famer’s first guest was AEW President Tony Khan, who of course, went into further detail about plans regarding the all-new promotion going forward.
One of the key components to AEW is tag team wrestling, which is something that’s been heavily focused on since the all-new promotion was announced. Khan wants to establish the great tag team division that they have in the company:
“We’re going to establish a great tag team division. When we launch our weekly television show in the fall, we’re going to be doing a tag team tournament that’s going to have some of the greatest tag team matches ever on TV. It’s going to be a main focus of our TV. There will be teams competing to get a first-round bye in that tournament, which is a big deal. We’ll have some of the best tag teams in wrestling competing for our Tag Team Championships coming up in the fall.”
Thus far, AEW’s tag teams are The Young Bucks, Best Friends (Trent Beretta & Chuckie T), The Lucha Brothers (Pentagon Jr & Fenix), The Dark Order (Super Smash Brothers), Angelico & Jack Evans, SCU (Christopher Daniels, Scorpio Sky, Frankie Kazarian) and Strong Hearts.
AEW returns with its second show, Fyter Fest, which is streaming free on Bleacher Report Live.
