Before the match-up began, Toru Yano was attacked by Yoshinobu Kanemaru and then dragged back to ringside for his match against Taichi. The early portion of the bout saw the former NEVER Openweight Champion dominate a wounded Yano until the former IWGP Tag Team Champion made his comeback and then threw Taichi into the exposed turnbuckle he unveiled during his comeback.

The match-up goes outside thanks to Yano tossing Taichi out the ring. Kanemaru tried to spit alcohol in the face of Yano; however, the move ultimately back fired and hits Taichi instead. Yano then wraps Taichi and Kanemaru in the ring skirt before getting back in the ring. The referee successfully counts to 20 and the match is called off due to Taichi being unable to make it back inside.

Toru Yano’s G1 Climax score is now 4-4 (8 points), whereas Taichi’s record is 3-5 (6 points).
