Last week, it was announced that CM Punk would finally return to the world of pro-wrestling for an appearance at
Starcast III on Labor Day weekend - the same time/location of
All Elite Wrestling's All Out. This obviously led to speculation that Punk could make an appearance at the PPV since the convention is connected to
AEW, but the one-time Straight Edge Superstar has since shot this down, as has Cody Rhodes.
A lot of fans still believe this is a work and Punk has secretly signed with the company, but that's not the case according to Dave Meltzer.
"This is not a work. He [Punk] doesn’t wanna wrestle," Meltzer said on the latest episode of
F4WOnline.com's show.
"They want him, they’ve contacted him and he isn’t interested. They made another pitch for this pay-per-view and I’m sure they’ll try to make another pitch for [the TNT show] and he says no. That’s where it stands.”
Of course, Meltzer has been wrong about this sort of thing in the past, but this was always a long-shot anyway so we'd be inclined to believe him here.
What do you guys think? Is this a work, or do fans just need to let this one go and accept that CM Punk is (most likely) done with wrestling?
