After playing mind games with Naito before the match-up began, the IWGP Intercontinental Champion attacked Robinson before the bell could ring.

Robinson quickly regained his composure and fired back against The Los Ingobernables de Japon leader; The two New Japan stars would then go back-and-forth with hard strikes and various moves until Naito counters a powerbomb attempt with a hurracarana.

Naito would continue to target the neck until Robinson mounted a comeback and hit a powerbomb for a nearfall. The former IWGP US Champion’s advantage wouldn’t last long, as Naito turned a Pulp Friction attempt into a German suplex.

Robinson would fight back after Naito connected with a tornado DDT; however, the IWGP Intercontinental Champion would hit him with a reverse rana followed by Destino for a near fall. The bout continued to be back-and-forth with neither man getting the advantage for long. In the end, Naito connected with Destino again, but this time it got him the three count.

Tetsuya Naito’s G1 Climax tournament score is 3-3 (6 points), whereas Juice Robinson’s record is 3-3 (6 points).
