The Major League Wrestling star has signed with the Professional Fighters League (PFL) and will compete in season three. Lawlor himself confirmed the news on Ariel Helwani's MMA Show.
While the 36-year-old’s focus has been on professional wrestling lately, Lawlor is a former UFC light heavyweight. Prior to his stint with MLW, the Massachusetts native got his start on season eight of The Ultimate Fighter; however, Lawlor would lose the early rounds of the competition.
Lawlor was still signed to the UFC and defeated Kyle Kingsbury in his debut match-up. Since then, Lawlor's career inside of the octagon has mostly been a mixed bag, with the light heavyweight getting strong wins over Patrick Côté, C.B. Dollaway, and Jason MacDonald; however, Lawlor came up short against top fighters such as Chris Weidman and Corey Anderson.
Lawlor was suspended back in October 2016 for failing an out-of-competition drug test and was eventually released from the UFC in August 2018, which was two months before his suspension was set to be lifted. Since then, Lawlor has only fought once against Deron Winn under Golden Boy Promotions: Liddell vs. Ortiz 3. He lost the fight via unanimous decision.
Despite signing with PFL, Lawlor is still under contract with Major League Wrestling and continues to fight regularly for the promotion. His professional record currently stands at 10 wins, 7 losses, and 1 no contest.
