Former UFC Bantamweight Michinori Tanaka will be making his way to Legacy Fighting Alliance.
The promotion confirmed with Sherdog that the 29-year-old had signed a multi-fight contract; however, the financial details of the deal was not released. Tanaka mostly made a name for himself in Shooto Brazil and Pacific Xtreme Combat by getting strong wins over big names such as Jong Hoon Choi (via submission at Shooto: 3rd Round) and Caleb Vallotton (via submission at Pacific Xtreme Combat 36).
Those huge victories got Tanaka a multi-fight deal with UFC and the Japan native came into the promotion hot with an undefeated record. Tanaka would get a unanimous decision victory against Roland Delorme at UFC 174 in his debut; however, the bantamweight lost steam by dropping a bout to Kang Kyung-ho at UFC Fight Night 52.
Ultimately, Tanaka would be released from the promotion in the middle of a two-fight losing streak; He was beaten by Rani Yahya (via unanimous decision at UFC Fight Night 95) and Ricardo Ramos (via unanimous decision at UFC Fight Night 104). Tanaka left with a UFC record of two wins and three losses. Since then, Tanaka has been fighting with various promotions in Japan and is currently in the midst of a two-fight winning streak. His professional record currently stands at 13 wins and 3 losses.
