Unfortunately, featherweight James Gallagher is off Bellator 240.

The Ireland native revealed on his social media page that a back injury has forced him to pull out of his fight against Cat Ellenor.

Bellator MMA officials confirmed the news that the 23-year-old will not be able to compete on Feb. 22, and a highly anticipated women’s featherweight bout will headline the show instead (Transcript courtesy of MMA FIGHTING):

“Due to an undisclosed injury, James Gallagher will no longer compete on Feb. 22 in Dublin, and his bout with Cal Ellenor has been removed from the card. A women’s featherweight matchup featuring Ireland’s Leah McCourt taking on Judith Ruis of Germany will now headline Bellator’s highly anticipated return to 3Arena.”

McCourt is entering the fight with some solid momentum as the featherweight is currently on a three-fight winning streak. Her opponent, Judith Ruis, comes in hot as well, as the Germany native has won her last two fights via submission. Bellator 240/Dublin takes place on Saturday, February 22 from the 3 Arena in Dublin, Ireland with Leah McCourt and Judith Ruis headlining.
