A huge middleweight bout that was originally set to headline UFC Fight Night Dublin in August will now main event the fight night card on July 25, as former UFC Middleweight Champion Robert Whittaker will take on Darren Till.
Whittaker will be stepping into the octagon for the first time since dropping the UFC Middleweight title to Israel Adesanya at UFC 243. Prior to his devastating loss, the New Zealand native was on a strong nine-fight winning streak, beating top middleweights such as Yoel Romero (UFC 213 and UFC 225), Ronaldo Souza (UFC on Fox 24), Derek Brunson (UFC 197), Rafael Natal (UFC Fight Night 101), and Uriah Hall (UFC 193). Whittaker’s professional record currently stands at 20 wins and 5 losses.
Till is coming off a successful middleweight debut against Kelvin Gastelum at UFC 244. Prior to the big victory, the England native was on a two-fight losing streak, dropping bouts to Jorge Masvidal (via KO at UFC Fight Night 147) and Tyron Woodley (via submission at UFC 228). Despite those setbacks, Till has managed to win three out of his last five fights, also beating Stephen Thompson and Donald Cerrone. Till’s professional record currently stands at 18 wins, 2 losses, and 1 no contest.
UFC Fight Night: Whittaker vs. Till takes place on Saturday, July 25 from a location to be announced with the two middleweights headlining the event.
