Tommaso Ciampa Retains The NXT Championship Against Aleister Black At TAKEOVER: PHOENIX

Tommaso Ciampa is still your NXT Champion after fending off an all-out assault from Alesiter Black in the NXT TakeOver: Phoenix main event.

The Dutch Destroyer was firmly in control for a while, but after he tweaked his knee, The Blackheart was like a shark smelling blood in the water and focused his attack on the leg.

Aleister managed to mount a comeback and had the champ reeling several times, but after hitting his Black Mass kick once and failing to capitalize, the challenger's knee continued to give out and it was just a matter of time before Ciampa took advantage of a distracted referee to hit his draping DDT and a series of Fairytake Endings to pick up the win.

After the match, Ciampa celebrated on the ramp and was joined by Johnny Gargano as the former tag-team partners raised their respective titles in the air. DIY reborn? We'll just have to wait and see.
