The former TNA World Tag Team Champion got into a fight that he didn’t expect.
In the semi-main event, The System (Eddie Edwards and Brian Myers) faced The Hardys for the TNA World Tag Team titles in a tables match. As expected, the match was very chaotic, but one fan got the attention of Eddie Edwards. Being a heel, the 40-year-old stepped into the fan’s face and talked some smack. So did the fan.
Eddie's response? To slap a drink out of his hand. The fan upped the anty by lightly slapping Edwards in the face. The TNA star slapped that fan back into his seat. Two referees intervened before the fight could escalate even further. While the moment seemed like a planned spot to get more heat on Edwards, as it turns out, this was a legit altercation between the two men.
According to Sean Ross Sapp, the fan was ejected from the building and turned over to the local police.
It’s unknown exactly what the fan said in the first place to get Eddie to slap the drink out of his hand. It’s safe to say that both parties acted irresponsibly here, though it seems as if the fan is the only one who will receive the punishment. Jordynne Grace took a minute on social media to clown the fan that slapped Eddie.
Whatever the case may be, TNA’s Final Resolution pay-per-view has been the talk of the town this weekend. First, the shocking return of former Impact World Champion Tessa Blanchard and now this incident.
Sadly, it overshadows Joe Hendry winning the number one contender’s match and Nic Nemeth retaining the world championship once again. But it’s doubtful that this will be a stain on TNA’s record with fans. On the bright side, the match between The Hardys and The System was a really good one with a great ending.
