The Rascalz vs. The Hardys is official.
Matt and Jeff were looking for a fight last Thursday and they picked the former TNA World Tag Team Champions. The Hardys put over the young duo and stated that if they could pull off a victory over them then they would be the GOATS of tag team wrestling.
The arrogant and brash team couldn’t resist that challenge and immediately accepted. TNA made their match at Genesis official. This will be the first meeting between the two tag teams.
The last time Trey Miguel and Zachary Wentz won the tag titles was at Emergence 2023 where they beat Subculture (Mark Andrews and Flash Webster) to capture the belts for the second time in their careers. They successfully kept their belts for 55 days until ABC (Chris Bey and Ace Austin) beat them at Bound For Glory 2023.
2024 saw the duo do their own thing for a while. Miguel and Wentz notably reunited with Wes Lee in the summer and Wentz even won the X-Division Championship during that time. He didn’t keep it long however, and Wentz ended up feuding with the former North American Champion. Once their rivalry wrapped up in October, the duo spent time in both the tag team and singles division.
Meanwhile, the Hardys was tearing it up throughout 2024. Matt & Jeff slowly rebuilt their names since they came in early 2024 and went on to win the TNA World Tag Team titles at Bound For Glory by beating The System (Eddie Edwards & Bryan Myers) and ABC in a Full Metal Mayhem match.
They successfully defended their belts against The System in a Tables match at Final Resolution. This should be a great match, even if it seems that the end result is predictable.
Genesis is shaping up nicely. The main event of TNA’s first pay-per-view of 2025 will see Joe Hendry challenging Nic Nemeth for the TNA World Heavyweight Championship. Check out the match-card thus far:
