Ken Shamrock will no longer get the opportunity to challenge for the Impact World Championship.
The promotion confirmed that the 2020 Hall of Fame Inductee hasn’t been cleared for competition based off the vile attack from Michael Elgin. Taking his place will be former X-Division Champion Ace Austin, who will now face former ECW World Champion Rhino in the first-round match-up of the eight-man tournament.
The cunning and sly Austin dominated the X-Division since his big title win at Bound For Glory last year. The 23-year-old is fresh off dropping the belt to Willie Mack, and then failing to recapture the prestigious title in a three-way match-up that also involved Chris Bey.
On the other hand, Rhino has been on a massive upswing since his victory over Moose at the Impact Plus exclusive event, Sacrifice. The ECW legend is coming off a feud against OVE (Madman Fulton, Jake and Dave Christ), in which the 44-year-old won every match that began the losing streak storyline with the dangerous faction.
Michael Elgin vs. Sami Callihan will be the final tournament bout that takes place this Tuesday. The winners of both matches will join Trey Miguel and Shawn Hernandez in the semi-finals.
