Alan Angels will be out for the rest of the year.

The injury bug is beyond AEW and WWE as TNA’s Alan Angels confirmed that he’ll be on the sidelines a little longer due to a knee Injury.

Before he made the jump over to TNA Wrestling, Angels first made his name in AEW. Under the same name, the 28-year-old opened plenty of eyes when he fought former AEW World Champion Kenny Omega on the April 22, 2020 edition of Dynamite.

It was later confirmed that Angels joined the Dark Order faction as 5. Angels didn’t particularly do much during his time as a Dark Order member. His most notable storyline was the divide between him and the Dark Order members. Otherwise, his most memorable matches were the losing efforts against Kenny Omega.

His contract would expire on June 29, 2022 and though AEW offered him a per appearance deal, Angels opted to go his own way as he felt that he wasn’t growing within the promotion. The AEW star discussed his decision to leave the company on the Two Man Power Trip Podcast and how it was hard for him to have the career he envisioned in AEW:

“I tell my buddy AC Mack, who is also a wrestler. He’s currently the Independent Wrestling Champion, and I told him, ‘Man, your career is kind of the career I pictured myself having, just because he’s worked up from these smaller independent companies and now he’s like one of the bigger names in independent wrestling just because [he’s] built up from his independent shows and stuff.

He’s never been signed to a major company or anything like that, and he’s now killing it on the indies, like doing all these cool-ass shows. Just like traveling the country defending the title and all that stuff... I just wanted to spread my wings and see what else I can do. I felt like it’s kind of hard to have an independent career while still signed to AEW”

Since then, Angels has been a mainstay in TNA and was a core member of the Violent by Design group in late 2022. Once the group disbanded, he was a central focus in the X-Division up until his injury in late 2024. He’s had great matches against Johnathan Gresham and Chris Sabin. The young star has proven that he can be a big player in the company since he was allowed to evolve within TNA.

Angels didn’t say when he’ll be able to return to the squared circle, but hopefully the TNA star makes a full recovery.
