Hammerstone has successfully gotten knee surgery.
It was reported after TNA Turning Point that the former MLW World Heavyweight Champion had suffered an injury during his match at the TNA pay-per-view. Hammerstone was in a six-way "Loser Wears a Turkey Suit” match featuring Joe Hendry, Brian Meyers, Rhino, John Skyler, and Eric Young. Hammerstone was able to finsh the match, but he's been sidelined ever since.
It’s not clear when he exactly suffered the injury, but the 33-year-old detailed a few weeks back that he had to get surgery.
The TNA star was originally set to compete at Final Resolution in a three-way tag team match against The Rascalz (Zachary Wentz & Trey Miguel) and PCO & Sami Callihan, but Hammerstone was forced out of the match. Jake Something went on to wrestle solo and ultimately lost to The Rascalz.
Hammerstone goes into detail about the surgery and noted that he would be out for a couple of weeks.
On December 23, the TNA star officially underwent surgery and Hammerstone seems to be in good spirits despite having a “post panic attack”. Hammerstone doesn’t lay down the official date for his return, but January seems accurate since he described it as a minor knee injury. Of course, that’s pure speculation on my end based on Hammerstone stating that he would be out only a couple of weeks.
The former MLW star signed with TNA in February 2024 and came in hot by feuding with former Impact World Champion Josh Alexander. These two had amazing chemistry and had a set of great matches in early 2024. In fact, their Last Man Standing match at Rebellion is one of the best wrestling matches from any promotion this year.
Hammerstone would go on to solidify himself by competing for the X-Division championship at Emergence, and though he didn’t win, his stock went up due to his performance. He even got the chance to compete on NXT twice, with Hammerstone actually beating the current NXT North American Champion via countout. There's no word on whether NXT officials had plans for Hammerstone beyond his two appearances. Though with his win over Tony D'Angelo, it would be strange if the countout loss was simply forgotten about. Here’s to wishing the speedy and healthy recovery to the TNA star.
