The former WWE superstar made his return to Impact Wrestling.
After teasing a comeback to the promotion for weeks, Myers answered the Impact World Championship open challenge. Before the match-up began, the returning Impact star tore down Edwards as the world champion and promised to represent the promotion proudly when it wins the belt.
Once the bell rang, Myers was out wrestled by Edwards in the early goings of the match-up. The 35-year-old got control of the bout by tossing the champion into the ring post. Myers slowly worked over Edwards for the next few minutes until the champion hit a nice suicide dive onto the challenger.
From there, it was a back-and-forth affair between both men with Myers getting a strong nearfall after an inverted ddt. Brian actually teased going for a spear – which was a callback to the time when he was in a faction with Edge – but Edwards kicked him and then connected with a tiger bomb. Eventually, Edwards hit the Boston Knee Party and got the three count.
This was the first time that Myers competed inside a TNA/Impact Wrestling ring since his brief stint in 2015. In his final match before going back to WWE, Myers failed to win back the TNA World Tag Team titles from The Wolves (Eddie Edwards and Davey Richards). Myers had a solid showing here and it should be interesting to see where he goes after the title match-up.
