Another week. Another successful title defense for Eddie Edwards.

At Emergence, the Impact World Champion ended up facing former WWE and TNA World Heavyweight Champion, Rob Van Dam. Edwards got the better of the veteran in the early goings of the match-up; however, a distraction from Katie Forbes allowed RVD to gain control of the bout.

RVD beat down Edwards throughout the arena and came close to getting a three count thanks to a split legged moonsault. The champ came back with a Blue Thunder Bomb. Rob tried to regain control, but Edwards countered with a Tiger Driver for a strong two count.

As Edwards went for a top rope move, Rob crotched the 36-year-old and knocked him off the top turnbuckle. RVD attempted a Five-Star Frog Splash, but Eddie avoided the finisher and connected with the Boston Knee Party for the three count.

Unfortunately, Edwards wouldn’t get a chance to celebrate his victory as Eric Young blindsided him from behind. The returning Impact star announced that they will finally meet for the world title next week on Impact, which was officially confirmed later on during the episode.
