It appears we’re back in the same contract situation one year later with Eli Drake.

According to Mike Johnson of PWInsider, the former IMPACT World Champion’s deal with the promotion is set to expire at the end of April/beginning of May. Johnson also reports that there is "absolutely interest in him elsewhere."

Drake was under the same circumstances last year as his deal with the company was set to end in late May. The former IMPACT World Champion ended up re-signing with the company and has been on television regularly since then.

Drake has been with TNA/IMPACT since 2015. He is a former IMPACT World Champion, World Tag Team Champion, and King of the Mountain Champion. Before Eli made his debut with IMPACT, he did have a brief stint in WWE developmental from 2013 to 2014, but he was mostly a jobber to the stars.

The former World champion's release from the company was due to the problems he had with Bill Demott. Last year, it was reported that WWE did have interest in bringing back Drake to the company. Johnson’s report may seem to indicate that WWE is indeed still interested.
