Cedric Alexander is in TNA.
For weeks, TNA Wrestling has been running a mystery angle around the Order 4. Mustafa Ali has been losing his mind lately, so the group has been talking to a mysterious man of Ali’s past. For those of you who are unaware, Cedric Alexander beat Mustafa Ali at WrestleMania 34 for the Cruiserweight Championship. Both men were a staple of the now defunct 205 Live.
This week, Ali had a Call to Arms match against John Sklyer and the former X-Division Champion emerged victorious. However, that wasn’t enough for Ali, so he commanded a beatdown on his former Order 4 brother. Both Jason Hotch and Tasha Steelz refused.
Ali grabbed a steel chair and was about to strike Tasha Steelz until Cedric Alexander made his entrance. The former WWE star tried to reason with Ali, but the 39-year-old wasn’t listening to anything that Alexander had to say. Mustafa tried to command his Order 4 group to follow him, but Tasha, John, and Jason remained by Cedric’s side.
Given the history between these two men and Slammiversary being around the corner, it wouldn’t be surprising if these two ended up fighting at the big summer pay-per-view.
Cedric was released from WWE in February after being in the company for over eight years. The release wasn’t particularly shocking since it was clear that WWE didn’t see much in the 35-year-old as he was mainly used as enhancement talent.
However, Alexander did accomplish a lot during his eight years in WWE; in addition to the Cruiserweight Championship, Alexander won the WWE Tag Team titles during The Hurt Business reign, and he’s even a former 24/7 Champion.
He came into the company through the incredible Cruiserweight Classic tournament where he had a strong showing against Kota Ibushi and fans demanded WWE to sign Cedric Alexander. Though the revival of the cruiserweight division failed, guys like him, Musata Ali, and Buddy Matthews worked their damn hardest to make 205 Live work.
Given Cedric’s ties to MVP, Bobby Lashley, and Shelton Benjamin, many assumed that he would join his Hurt Business brothers in AEW. There were even reports that the former WWE star had no issues going over to the promotion despite the rocky AEW exit his wife, Big Swole, had in 2021. It should be a good run for Cedric and I’m looking forward to seeing what he and Ali can do beyond the WWE ropes.
