Shawn Hernandez and Trey Miguel have made it into the semi-finals!
Last night, the eight-man #1 contender’s tournament for the Impact World Championship started and the first match-up was the former Impact World Tag Team Champion vs. Madman Fulton.
Hernandez has been on and off with TNA/Impact Wrestling since 2003 and the 47-year-old has had several world championship opportunities, but the veteran has yet to capture the belt during his lengthy career.
Fulton was man handling Hernandez in the early goings of the match-up; however, a big dive from Hernandez changed the match around. After both men traded big moves (and some interference from Jake and Dave Christ), Hernandez connected with a top rope splash for the victory.
In the final tournament match of the night, Trey Miguel defeated Rohit Raju. The Desi Hit Squad member showcased a vicious side that’s been rarely seen in his Impact run thus far and grounded the high flyer after a series or back-and-forth offense.
A Pele kick helped Miguel regain control of the contest, but The Rascalz member was almost down for the count after Raji connected with a vicious knee strike. Miguel managed to get the victory thanks to a small package roll-up.
The semi-final matches will be confirmed once Sami Callihan vs. Michael Elgin and Rhino vs. Ken Shamrock concludes next week.
