Could Johnny Swinger become the new X-Division Champion?
Last week, Willie Mack defended his belt against X-Division Champion Ace Austin and Impact newcomer Chris Bey. The match-up highlighted the athletic ability of all three men and Mack came extremely close to dropping the belt thanks to Austin; however, the 33-year-old pulled out the victory in the end.
Surprisingly, Mack’s next challenger is Johnny Swinger.
This is all due to Bey stirring the pot between the champion and challenger this past week. Following Rich Swann's injury back in January, Mack and Swinger briefly teamed together and Bey claimed that the newly crowned X-Division Champion has been dissing the 44-year-old.
Swinger later confronted Mack and told him that he was going to teach him a lesson inside the ring. Mack didn’t hesitate to take Johnny’s challenge and made it official for next week. While the former WCW star hasn’t made much of an impact during his latest run with the company, Swinger is a former NWA World Tag Team Champion and NWA Mid-America Heavyweight Champion, so the New York native does know how to get the job done.
Mack has been firing on all cylinders lately though, but will Chris Bey’s plan help Johnny Swinger win the X-Division Championship? We’ll find out next week!
