Last night's IMPACT Wrestling Rebellion special was originally supposed to feature Michael Elgin taking on Tessa Blanchard and Eddie Edwards in a Triple Threat Match for the IMPACT World Championship, but with Blanchard currently quarantining because of the coronavirus pandemic, another match was made... for the TNA Championship!
Moose brought back the long defunct title and proposed a different triple-threat bout to decide the new champ.
Elgin and Hernandez ended up in the mix, and Moose was ultimately able to pin the latter after hitting the No Jackhammer Needed Spear, crowning himself the new TNA Champion in the process.
It remains to be seen what IMPACT's plans are for this classic championship moving forward, but we assume it will serve as a secondary title that can be defended during television tapings in Blanchard's absence.
