A couple of weeks before Slammiversary, Impact Wrestling stripped Tessa Blanchard of The World Title and fired the third-generation star. The news of Blanchard exiting the company was no surprise as the 25-year-old was never expected to stay once her contract ended on June 30; however, the circumstances surrounding Blanchard did shock many.
Further details have come to light regarding Impact’s decision to release Blanchard, as the company felt that the former world champion had a better deal at the time, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. Officials tried to re-sign Blanchard to a new contract; however, she opted against inking a new deal with the promotion.
Since her release, WWE has reportedly sent out feelers to Blanchard, though there’s no word on whether the two sides have officially talked yet. Blanchard did make her in-ring return at the Warrior Wrestling event this past weekend and dropped the WW Women's Championship to Kylie Rae.
