Last week, TNA Wrestling held the first part of their “best of” series that featured Will Ospreay vs. Josh Alexander, Trinity vs. Jordynne Grace, and The System vs. ABC. This week, the final installment includes a focus on Mustafa Ali’s debut in TNA.
The former WWE star came into TNA strong as he was instantly given an X-Division match against Chris Sabin. Ali won the match and would go on to have a 148-day title reign. The 38-year-old had incredible matches against Ace Austin, Trent Seven, and Amazing Red before dropping it to Mike Bailey at Slammiversary.
This episode will also focus on the TNA Knockouts Tag Team Champions, Spitfire. Dani Luna and Jody Threat came into the promotion and made a splash within the tag team division quickly. Spitfire first won the Knockouts Tag Team titles at Sacrifice, but dropped it to Alisha Edwards & Masha Slamovich at Under Siege. The duo would regain those belts at Victory Road and successfully defended them twice so far.
The show will also document the rise of Joe Hendry in 2024. The 36-year-old has been in the business for ten years now, but Hendry finally found his groove this year. His rise in the mainstream resulted in big opportunities in TNA, including a match against Nic Nemeth for the World title at Bound For Glory.
Last, but not least, The Hardys will get some love in this episode. 2024 has been a huge resurgence for Matt and Jeff Hardy after a failed run in AEW. Though the duo aren’t the same men from ten years ago, the former WWE Tag Team Champions showcased that they can still put on high quality matches throughout their run in TNA. The future WWE Hall of Famers capped off an excellent year by winning the TNA World Tag Team Titles from The System (check to make sure) at Bound For Glory.
Tonight’s Countdown special will also reveal the winners of Knockouts Tag Team of the Year, Match of the Year, and Male Wrestler of the Year. TNA Wrestling is scheduled to return with live episodes on January 2. So all of the hot button questions about the return of Tessa Blanchard will have to wait until 2025. TNA has yet to release the match listing for the first 2025 TNA Wrestling episode. Nevertheless, enjoy some of the best wrestling of the year in TNA!
