Rich Swann is the new Impact World Champion!
To cap off the night full of title changes, the Baltimore native finally won the prestigious belt in the main event of Bound For Glory. Swann has been fighting for the title since late last year; however, several setbacks have prevented him from capturing the gold.
One of those setbacks was Eric Young taking out Swann at Slammiversary in July. The 29-year-old made a surprise return in the main event and eliminated the returning Young. The “World Class Maniac” destroyed Swann’s leg and forced him back onto the injured list. Since then, the heat between both men grew each and every week, and that didn’t stop when Swann and Young hit the ring for the main event.
Not surprisingly, Young targeted Swann's ankle throughout the match-up, but Swann used his speed and aerial maneuvers to get out of Young’s various submissions. It all came down to Swann countering the Piledriver finisher, with Swann connecting with a cutter and Phoenix Splash for the win. This is Swann’s first world title win in Impact Wrestling.
